I have the same problem. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1525 with ubuntu and Intel 82801H (ICH8 family) sound card. Sound worked fine until shortly after the upgrade to Hardy. Now it just says no GStreamer plugins detected. I may have the same problem. Have same chipset, sound is so faint as to be almost not there. Have to turn up full volume, listen thru headset. Recording volume very weak.
