Crash again, permanently. power went out yesterday but laptop stayed on. Laptop was non responsive after removing from docking station. Had to reboot. I confirm, every time I resume from suspend I have pidgin crashing. I've got this same crash. To me it still happens with 1:2.4.0-1ubuntu2 :( It seems to be fixed upstream in 2.4.1 anyway. Will that be included in hardy? Just as other people are confirming, for me these symptoms seem to have been fixed by 1:2.4.0-1ubuntu2.
