Is this bug still present in 12.04? The original report was about Ubuntu 8.04 Server (presumably not running NetworkManager) whereas Moritz's comment #1 was about 8.10 Desktop running NetworkManager. I can confirm a similar (mis)behavior on a Desktop PC with Intrepid Alpha. On every startup i have to edit /etc/resolv.conf manually and add a nameserver. Additionally, my static IP address is only kept if I uncheck "System setting" in the network manager. When I try to change the nameserver configuration through the GUI (checking "System setting" and entering the nameserver's IP address), I get an error message saying "Adding connection failed.
