Entries are an exception (shouldn't be), but there you see a change of the mouse cursor. It's simply inconsistent to not have prelight on menus (and tabs). KDE does this. Windows does this. Not sure about Mac OS X. I'm not convinced of it's utility. I, for one, am bothered by too much UI interaction as I move my mouse around. Perhaps an option tab with several such options for those who would prefer them.
