[Bug 218615] [NEW] The live session does not detect dual monitor setup automagically

2008-12-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

(This is probably more wish than a bug.)

Kubuntu Desktop i386 (20080417.1) (pre-RC) live session:
After the X server is started, the dual monitor setup is not detected, so the
same screen is shown on both monitors.

Gfx card is ATI Radeon X1200, driver name in System Settings is fbdev
LCDs are both BenQ FP91G+ D-sub input, one is connected trough DVI <-> D-sub
converter.

It looks in System Settings like the second monitor is not detected at all.
Couldn't have tried to change the settings, as the Administrator Mode does not
work for me in live session (Bug #175909)

In 7.10 I use ati / fglrx binary driver, which detects both monitors as
Plug 'n' Play, and dual screen works ok.

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Wishlist
 Status: Won't Fix
