Hi, this should be a duplicate of 212100 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/212100) but it's marked as fixed. Can you try to blacklist you're tv-tuner driver? I have installed ubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386.iso and no problems with the hal when I use it. But my PC frozen in when I look TV or the PC is waiting (Pause - Power Management?).
