[Bug 221045] Re: wireless quit working

2008-09-22 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi Jeff,

Just posting the email you had sent me directly:

Sorry for the delayed response. I tried Alpha 5 but would not complete
boot. Might have been a bad burn on my part and being short on time, I
did not trouble shoot the disc or try another burn.

Regardless, I did get Alpha 6 to boot and wireless card must have been
recognized as when I entered the details of my wireless network it
promptly connected and I was able to surf from the Live User session. If
this experience will be consistent in the final release of 8.10 in about
5 weeks, I will likely commit to the upgrade.

Thanks for the extra effort. Best regards to all!

Based on your feedback that Alpha6 appears to have resolved this issue,
it's likely this should indeed also be resolved for the Intrepid final
releas at the end of October. I'm going to tentatively mark this Fix
Released for now. However, If you notice any regressions regarding
this issue prior to Intrepid's final release, please feel free to reopen
by setting the status back to New. Thanks.

[Bug 221045] Re: wireless quit working

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 221045] Re: wireless quit working

2008-05-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Thanks Jeff. I'll keep this report open for a while longer. When the
Intrepid kernel is available it would be helpful if you could test to
see if there are any improvements.

Guillaume, care to open a new bug report. You seem to have a different
wireless card than the original bug reporter and are likely using the
iwl3945 driver. Before opening a new report though, care to first try
installing the linux-backports-modules package. It containes an updated
version of the iwlwifi drivers, version 1.2.25. You can check the
version you have installed by running modinfo iwl3945. Thanks.

 Hi Jeff,

Per the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the following
information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate
 attachment.

 * cat /proc/version_signature  version.log
 * dmesg  dmesg.log
 * sudo lspci -vvnn  lspci-vvnn.log

It would be good to also wait to capture your dmesg output until after
you see you are unable to connect. For more information regarding the

 appreciate your help and feedback.

Leann,

I apologize for the delayed response and overall failure to respond. In
my impatience, I went back to 7.10 rather than continue to fuss with
8.04. I hope you all find a solution soon.

Best regards and great work!
