[Bug 222042] Re: I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module
Hi juanj-marin, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . Please then run following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 222042 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222042] Re: I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module
[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately.] This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue. Thanks. ** Package changed: linux-meta (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222042] Re: I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module
Hi All, There is a serious bug which may affect some people subscribed to this report so I wanted to pass along the information. Due to an unresolved bug in the e1000e driver in the 2.6.27 Linux kernel, this driver/kernel should not be used on Intel ethernet hardware supported by the e1000e driver (Intel GigE). Doing so may render your network hardware permanently inoperable. Older Intel ethernet hardware which uses the e1000 driver is not affected by this; however, some hardware which used the e1000 driver in previous Ubuntu releases, such as hardware that uses a PCI Express bus, has been moved from e1000 to e1000e in the latest kernel releases. If in doubt, do not use this driver/kernel and subscribe to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/263555 to be notified when the bug is fixed. Thanks. -- I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I want to make this error be awared by the kernel team. I don't which is the most suitable package to be choosen. ** Changed in: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Ubuntu Kernel Network Team (ubuntu-kernel-network) -- I don't get a eth0 interface after loading e1000 module https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
