As Harold proposed, why not to a) move libgpod4 package to recommends or b) make a choice between libgpod4 and libgpo4-nogtk with the former as default for amarok package? Its not just ipod, each of those media device plugins drags in at least one lib, and this lib mostly some others. That is easily a couple of MiBs on the live cd. Well, technically, if the GTK+ depending stuff are media device plugins, one could try moving those to seperate packges. Of course this needs to be coordinated with Debian and is no easy thing to do. This would also allow people to install only media-device plugins they need. And in consequence, with a proper framework in place, we could boot the media device plugins off the CD and install them on-demand.
