Pedro are you joking are you? this bug has been reported on hardy and the first question was did you try to upgrade to Intrepid after 6 months. this bug could have been closed at the time not after 8 months if no one was going to investigate when hardy was fresh after the release. I've tried to delete gnome-screensaver. It's mystics but now all right. I've tried to kill X11 5 times and every time XFCE started successfully. I have the same problem as well. I have to log in a lot of times before I can finally get to the desktop. I have a gnome installed initially but thought it a bit resource hungry for my computer, so I have decided to install XFCE desktop while keeping gnome. It works fine with gnome but not with xfce. I have seen the same problem in two computers with gnome and XFCE installed, other computers with only gnome installed work well. I cannot enter into XFCE without restart gdm about 3 times. I have tried to disable gnome services but nothing. I have the same with XFCE, if I change session to XFCE when I log in I have blank screen and nothing happens.
