[Bug 223593] Re: External Monitor Does Not Work

2008-09-30 Thread Bryce Harrington
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response
from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please
feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could,
please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this
confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Beyboo, you have a different card than the original reporter and
somewhat different symptoms, so please report that as a new bug. Also,
please report the keyboard issue as a separate bug report since that
probably has nothing to do with the video driver.

[Bug 223593] Re: External Monitor Does Not Work

2008-05-31 Thread beyboo
I have an Acer Aspire 5920 ZD1 with GMA965 (X3100). Loaded Hardy clean
on it. Got an external LG 22' LCD Screen. When I boot with the external
screen attached, the initial Ubuntu screen is shown. However it all
disappears when X starts.

The fn-F5 key does not work. Screen Resolution shows the external
monitor correctly and also allows me to select it with the right
resolution. However apply does not work. I can sense the LCD switch
between Analog and Digital back and forth, but nothing.

The solution I use is to select the external TFT which is detected and
visible in Screen Resolution. Click on apply and then ctrl Alt
backspace. Now when X restarts I see the display on both the laptop as
well as the external in the correct 1690x1050 resolution

However why does the Fn-F5 key not work and why do I have to kill X and
then go back in ?

Attaching my /var/log/Xorg.0.log
