Hi Farhad, Since you are the original bug reporter, would you be willing to test the latest pre-release of Jaunty (currently Alpha3) - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . You should be able to test suspend via a LiveCD. Please let us know if this issue remains. The suspend/hibernate works now perfectly with 2.6.27 in ubuntu 8.10. The only minor bug is that randomly after resume from suspend, the networking gets disabled and I need to enable it manually. The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. I just installed 2.6.24-19-generic and suspend works much better than 17 and 18. I still get the beep plus the error message your computer failed to suspend sometimes after waking up. Well, every time I hear the beeps, I also see a error message that my computer has failed to sleep(although it has successfully gotten suspended and waken up). Thus, I thing there must be a relation. The other thing is that my computer never wakes up from the two new versions of headers (2.6.24-17-generic and 2.6.24-18-generic) therefore, I need to use 2.6.24-16 that although sometimes fails to work at least never halts. In 2.6.24-18, I can successfully suspend the computer but it never wakes up. Every time, I just see a blank screen with a cursor and computer is completely locked (even alt-sys req+ B does not work!).
