Same problem here, i turned off wireless in networkmanager, and now i can not enable it. It is greyed out. Ubuntu 9.10 does not react on hardware attempts to enable it, nor on Fn+F1. Any idea? Not a fix, but help. I used Hirens 10.1. There is bootable XP there, I enabled wireless while it was booting using switch on laptop. After that it was enabled in linux. I have a problem. The last ubuntu system update the wifi deleted settings. I installed it WICD software. I have an old laptop apart from what the wifi is a switch and WICD store the informations well. I installed it then WICDt FC V5505 onto a laptop, but there the wifi switch with a hotkey can be turned off/on. I would like to be done single Fn+F1 hotkey the switching on of the wifi and single Fn+F2 hotkey the switching off of the wifi. I do not know it what I shall do. What I did: install Ndiswrapper install Atheros Wireless windows driver tested Cbrmichi 2 scrips, but not good (Directory nonexistent) iwconfig lo not wireless extensions. eth0 not wireless extensions. pan0 not wireless extensions. What may be the problem? What do I do? would you please give me more information about your system? do you use hardy or intrepid? do you have windows installed? i use intrepid right now. maybe you should try an update. try switching your wireless on with windows, ubuntu should install the right drivers by itself. I bought this notebook (FSC V5505) and Linux will run on him only. I installed it Ubuntu 8.10 versions. Everything looks promising, but may be, that Wifi , but I cannot start it. The forumon I read Windows driver from setup and with what there was a CD in the box, I installed it because of this it XP driver. I would like a plain and clear Linux machine for myself. :-) I attach it the hw list file. Hi, while I was testing how this could be done, I found out, that I simply had to change one number in a file. Then I wrote 2 scripts (because I didn't know how to do this in one script and didn't had the time to look for it). I attached the 2 scripts, the command is very simple. Then I made a keyboard shortcut in compiz. Ctrl+Alt+Q for turning wireless off, Ctrl+Alt+W for turning it on. It WORKS. So, if you can do that, would you please write ONE script out of that and maybe you can show us how to use the side button... I cannot afford the time right know. I can confirm this report. Neither FN+F1 nor the kill-switch works. In Windows, pressing either of them starts a 3rd party tool that allows me to disable/enable WiFi and Bluetooth. However, I don't think this is a bug.
