[Bug 228735] Re: text not displaying; is white on white

2009-08-04 Thread TrudyA
Firefox information:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.12)
Gecko/2009070818 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid)
Firefox/3.0.12

Recently allowed Ubuntu 8.10 to run updates which included a number of
updates for Firefox, following this a large number of websites are
displaying graphics only, the text appears to be white.

Examples:
www.bbc.co.uk
ubuntuforums.org

I have not changed the default settings in Firefox since installing
Ubuntu this year. Defaults are black text on white background.

Again, switching to no-style allows basic websites to be used, but
anything more complex is unusable.

[Bug 228735] Re: text not displaying; is white on white

2008-05-09 Thread Jason Bandlow
Sorry for the too quick bug report--I've figured out the problem. In
the previous version (FF 2.? on Ubuntu 7.10) I had at one point set my
default background color to black and default text color to white.
Firefox basically ignored these preferences, and I never changed them
back. With the latest version, the page is probably overriding the
background color with CSS, but not the text color. Result: white on
white.

Sorry for wasting someone's time, and a big thank you to everyone who
works so hard to make Ubuntu better.

** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid
