[Bug 230354] Re: Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 6000 v2.0

Has anyone found solution for this? I am facing same issues here on a MS
Wireless keyboard 3000: none of the multimedia keys work. When
attempting to remap them with gnome-keybinding-properties, it seems the
event of the key being pressed does not reach the window.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

the multimedia keys bug has already been reported: it's bug #281993. I
think they said it's been fixed in Jaunty... but apparently it's a
kernel bug.

Hi,

Once again this is not a duplicate of that bug, which has different
symptoms which are not replicated in this problem. This bug doesn't
affect all short cut keys, just the media / extra keys on this
particular range of keyboards.

It must be a kernal bug as it was working fine in Hardy. I guess it'll
have to wait till Jaunty or you'll need to roll back to Hardy. There is
a work around I used to restore my Volume and Mute keys by mapping them
to keys on the numeric keypad (+ - and *) since most people rarely use
them.

My situation is that the F lock key works fine but the media keys do
not. I agree it's a separate issue.

It appears to be the same in my opinion, in that those who have
commented on either bug have complained of common problems: multimedia
keys and other shortcuts not functioning. Could you please explain how
it is not a duplicate?

They're definitely not _all_ the same issue - the CTRL-ALT-L key
combination mentioned in #256139 works fine for me. Also #291594 - I
can switch between workspaces using CTRL-ALT-LEFT and CTRL-ALT-RIGHT.

The issue I have is that the Microsoft-keyboard specific keys don't work
(for example, volume up/down on the top row, the rocker on the left hand
side used to scroll up/down but now doesn't do anything).

Hi all,

This is kind of a moot point anyway - the bug report is that F keys
don't work. Someone should file a new bug about media keys not working.

Also, this is absolutely not a duplicate, at least of the listed bug -
this bug has nothing to do with keyboard shortcuts. Either this bug
should be closed (the F-key issue is a user error) or the description
updated to reflect the new conversation. If there's some kind of
agreement I would be happy to update/file a new bug. (Also, according to
the forum thread linked to above, it may not be specific to only the
Microsoft keyboard).

2008-11-17 Thread ScampiUK
There is a bigger problem with this keyboard,

As discussed on the Forum
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=965475) after the recent
upgrade to 8.10 the media keys have ceased to function.

This affects all the non-standard keys on the keyboard. Remapping them
doesn't have the desired affect.

Hi sbindley,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from
cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.
