Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24
Hardware: Advent 5480 laptop (same as Uniwill 340S2, Gericom Webboy, IPC Topnote and endless others) with a PIII/800 (Coppermine) and SiS630 chipset. Software: xubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron The laptop hard freezes randomly (locks up totally, not even the magic SysRq keys work) when it is plugged into AC power. This never happens when it's working on battery. I suspected ACPI but when booting with acpi=off, not only does the problem remain, but it also introduces the famous acpi - synaptics touchpad jumparound bug. uname -a reports: Linux critter2 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux This has happened on all 2.6 kernels I've tried so far. Please find attached my lspci and dmesg. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Laptop randomly freezes on AC, never on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
