[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
Hi, i had similar problems in the past. Is this issue still present in the latest version of vlc, in Hardy or Intrepid? //magnus ** Changed in: vlc (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
My problem was solved using vlc %m. So NTFS had nothing to do with it. Btw I'm using NTFS-3G, which is quite good on my Aspire One. -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
Bumped into this thread while looking for a solution on my Aspire One ( Linpus Lite ~= Fedora 8 ). I seem to have the same problem. Cannot check ftm whether the solutions proposed here would work. In my case the iso is being read from a USB disk with NTFS. Will check later and report back. -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
I don't think this bug should be closed quite yet. Using vlc %F or vlc %m or just vlc as the launch command works for local files, but it doesn't work for URLs such as smb://. It seems that when VLC gets a DVD ISO in URL form, that the movie will play as a large stream, but navigation and sound do not work. Actually the sound will work for me if I find and select the appropriate audio track, but that's not right either. -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks, this helped me. You might be interested to read this http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry- spec/latest/ar01s06.html, as it explains what %U, %m, etc. mean. -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
Laszlo, Actually I took your advice a bit differently and just made a custom command to open ISO files with vlc %m. Thanks for the fix. This issue can be closed now. -- VLC problem with ISO DVD Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231282] Re: VLC problem with ISO DVD Files
This is not a bug but a setting of the launch command. Sorry for posting from my end.. MMarking, try this: To change the launch command for vlc: Right click on Applications - Edit menus - Choose sound and video on left side, right click on vlc on right side - Properties and change command to this: vlc %mfrom vlc %U (or %F) I guess what it does is it makes vlc open the file as DVD with menus instead of a simple DVD. Or something like that.. Let's try posting these kind of things on ubuntuforums before. We might get a reply quicker especially if it's not really a bug.
