Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22
I have been having a problem installing Hardy Heron 8.04 ( both Ubuntu & Kubuntu) on my system when 4GB is installed. System is as follows: Asus P4P800-E Deluxe Motherboard P4-3.0E Processor 4GB OCZ High Performance DDR dual channel Ram (4x1024MB) Nvidia 7300GT AGP 8X 512MB video card 60GB Maxtor ATA133 Hard drive ( with Linux) 160GB Hitachi SATA (Windoze XP SP2) 500GB Hitachi SATA2 (Storage) The system will run fine with 4GB of Ram when running Windows XP. I am able to install and run fine Kubuntu 7.04 with 4GB of Ram installed. I am only able to install or run Hardy Heron 8.04 when I remove 2GB of ram. Even If I remove the 2GB of ram and install Hardy, then shut down, install the full 4GB of Ram Hardy will not boot. Just hangs. I have tried all the usual settings of ACPI=OFF, etc. This will only get past the flashing cursor to the following errors: "SMP mptable: No processors registered!" "Bios bug, MP table errors detected!" "disabling SMP support. (tell your hw vendor)" Then hangs indefinitely. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy 8.04 will not install or boot with 4GB Ram installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231606 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
