Well I have to admit I should have rtfm. I do have the same problem with debian version 1.3.5-2 which I compiled from source on my ASUS А6КМ with 2.6.24-17-generic kernel i386. As a workaround I currently do start audacity with padsp. I do not encounter any messages from command line.
