[Bug 231773] Re: Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the *default* Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the papercuts project. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: New = Invalid -- Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231773] Re: Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button
Probably not, given that paper cut doesn't include things involving you breathing near the system. For example, if you set the panels to autohide and experience a minor bug, it's not a paper cut because it wasn't a pristine system (saw this on some other bug). If setting panel preferences is enough to make it not a paper cut, installing software must also be enough. -- Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231773] Re: Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button
I think it is a shame that such a bug is still topical. A lot of users use ccsm (more than simple-ccsm, I'm sure about this) and they see the broken visual effect tab as a true usability issue. What do you think ? Could this bug be one of those famous paper cuts ? ** Also affects: gnome-control-center Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

you can install ccsm-simple to get the custom button ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Status: New = Invalid -- Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 231773] Re: Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button
It appears to be a bug in compizconfig/deprecation in control-panel, because doing that adds a preferences button next to the custom radio button (like in gusty) that goes to a /separate/ settings manager (in gusty, it would go to compizconfig itself). Therefore, compizconfig itself needs to start adding that radio button, because simple-ccsm adds one specifically intended for a different settings manager. -- Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 231773] Re: Appearance dialog breaking and entering CompizConfig, instead of custom radio button
To clarify, I have attached a screenshot of the settings manager which is broken (see my previous comment). This manager alone will not add the radio button ** Attachment added: screenshot of CompizConfig http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14608096/Screenshot-CompizConfig%20Settings%20Manager.png ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center There is no longer a custom radio button in the dialog box at System-Preferences-Appearance-Visual Effects tab. Furthermore, selecting a preset configuration will overwrite your custom configuration. To reproduce: 0. Have Hardy, CompizConfig installed 1. Set some custom options via CC. I recommend turning on plugins relating to the cube because they are not favored by the presets 2. Open the dialog via the aforementioned path 3. choose a preset (like none or normal) 4. Look at your settings in CompizConfig. Your custom settings will have been overwritten. In gusty, the custom settings would have been unchanged but ignored until you played with them again. Now they're overwritten.
