The reason gnome-translate is broken is actually because of libtranslate0 and changes to the web services it uses. I can confirm that youtranslation (1.1.9-0ubuntu1) doesn't work on hardy 8.04 (2.6.24-18-generic) after launching. The same after installing youTranslate-1.10_all.deb.
