[Bug 236784] Re: Hibernation does not work properly

2010-01-22 Thread Teej
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Re: [Bug 236784] Re: Hibernation does not work properly

2009-02-03 Thread Nicholas
I might have caused a misunderstanding; sorry if this is the case.

Hibernation doesn't crash the computer with the latest kernel, however,
neither does it work as expected. There is no longer a misleading
description in 8.10 ("While
+ hibernating, your computer _won't need any power_"), but I'm not sure
Hibernate is really supposed to do nothing but lock the computer. I also
don't believe Hibernate works differently for other people. Please inform me
if I am wrong.
Thanks.

[Bug 236784] Re: Hibernation does not work properly

2009-02-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve
Ubuntu.

I'm reassigning this to the linux package; acpi-support is not involved
in the hibernate process in a normal Ubuntu install.

Also, hibernation and suspend both work fine for a great number of
users. Please provide us with details about what hardware you're
experiencing this problem on.

Under the latest kernel version (2.6.24-19) Hibernate does not work at
all (just crashes the computer).

[Bug 236784] Re: Hibernation does not work properly

2008-06-02 Thread Nicholas
** Description changed:

In Windows, the Hibernation function saves the current state of the
- computer onto the hard drive and then shuts down the computer. In
- Ubuntu, however, it works much like Suspend, except the fan keeps
- rotating at its normal speed and you cannot get back without the
- password. This doesn't correspond to the description of that function in
- Ubuntu: "While hibernating, your computer _won't need any power_".
- Either change the description or fix the function itself.
