[Bug 238646] Re: nvidia-glx drivers hang Ubuntu 7.10 machine on startup

2008-08-18 Thread Chris Coulson
Hi Fernando, is this still an issue for you?

If it is, we need to establish whether the 'hang' is a genuine lock-up
or whether it is just Xorg crashing. With the restricted drivers
installed and after the Ubuntu splash screen disappears, when the crash
occurs can you still switch to a terminal using CTRL+ALT+F1? If so, then
I would like you to attach your X server configuration file
(/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and also your X server log files
(/var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old) to this bug report as
individual text files, straight after this crash occurs.

Thanks

Derek, thanks for letting me know what to do--I didn't really know what
to say. I've tarred and gzipped the files for you.

[Bug 238646] Re: nvidia-glx drivers hang Ubuntu 7.10 machine on startup

2008-06-09 Thread Dereck Wonnacott
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description
does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the
Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the
resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the
resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at [WWW]
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies Thanks in advance!
