[Bug 240282] Re: Wpa and wireless connection problems with some cards

2010-07-28 Thread Vincenzo Mazzotta
Ubuntu 10 some problem.

WEP work fine
but
WPA-PSK Encryption: TKIP+AES WPA-PSK
Version:WPA+WPA2

lost connection every 5 minutes and the It's impossible to reconnect. I
need disconnected device integrated in dell vostro 1700 with a button
wait some minutes and switch on wireless and reconnect without problem.
But after 5 minutes the problem there is again.

My wireless device is Wireless 4965 AG or AGN I don't exactly.

In windows vista this isn't happening so I suppose that the problem stay
in supplicant part

For me WPA works fine with hardy, kernel 2.6.24-23-generic and Intel
2200BG, Edimax EW7318USB

These use the built-in drivers, where both heartsmagic and Marlon Milla
seem to have been using ndiswrapper and wpa supplicant.

2008-11-20 Thread Rob Munsch
WPA also fails for me on 8.10. Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (rev 05). WEP
or unsecured work fine. Point of failure seems to be at

NetworkManager: info Activation (eth1/wireless): asking for new secrets
NetworkManager: WARN get_secrets_cb(): Couldn't get connection secrets:
Requested string is empty.

Then it dies and gives up.

Looking at the attachments in your bug report, I noticed that syslog
was flagged as patch. A patch contains changes to an Ubuntu package
that will resolve a bug, however your attachment doesn't appear to be
one. Subsequently I've unchecked the patch flag for it. In the future
keep in mind the definition of a patch. Thanks!

2008-10-07 Thread twinned
I have the same problem. Can't connect to my Wippies router when using wpa.
It do however works when I'm connecting to the non encrypted connection.
Found out that if I do sudo su and then ''killall NetworkManager and then
restart networkmanager again with NetworkManager it seems to work every time.
Not a very nice work around but it works until the bug is fixed.

[Bug 240282] Re: Wpa and wireless connection problems with some cards

2008-09-01 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Thanks heartsmagic,

For those wanting to test but not upgrade their systems to the pre-
release Intrepid, the best solution is to test Alpha5 via a LiveCD.
You should be able to then test the newer 2.6.27 kernel without
compromising your existing system. I noticed there are quite a few
different cards reported here to have issues. It's actually helpful to
the development teams if bug reports target a specific issue against a
specific set of hardware. The reason is that different wifi cards will
require different drivers and thus likely different coding fixes. Would
it be possible for you to modify the description of this bug report to
target a single card. For those experiencing issues with other cards,
please open a new report. Thanks.

Is the kernel 2.6.27 on alpha5 different then the one come with the
upgrade or alpha4? Because i added last reports here and they tried
Intrepid and 2.6.27 with those cards.

There are lots of cards as you see here, if you want me to change this
bug report for a single one and open a new bug report for each of them,
i'll do it soon.

2008-08-29 Thread heartsmagic
Thank you for the answer. But I want to ask a question here. What should the
Hardy users do?
We can't recommend upgrading Intrepid Ibex as a Locoteam for new or
inexperienced users. So what is the solution for Hardy?

I'll ask Intrepid users to upgrade their kernel version to 2.6.27.

Regards, Serkan.

[Bug 240282] Re: Wpa and wireless connection problems with some cards

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.
