How do I bypass this problem if I have grub installed in another partition for another distro? I have several partitions. I have grub installed on hd(0,0) with my main distro that I use, but Intrepid is installed on hd(0,7). Surely, I dont want to install grub twice? Help anyone! Thanks Brett, As Steve pointed out, the failure to install the kernel due to grub missing was actually the correct fail over. It's hard to completely fullproof updates/installations. As Steve also mentioned the way to avoid this error is to not remove grub. Looked in: '/bin', '/sbin', '/usr/bin', '/usr/sbin' dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2 ... Yup, that is exactly why it failed. I thought Sabastien or another Linux dev got a hold of me via Launchpad explaining how there is not much he can do to make sure grub is installed on the system during an update. Ahh, here we go. This isn't the only one that failed. Apport popped up about 6 times but I only submitted this one.
