After losing the wireless connection in 8.04, I booted in another
machine without a card. Rebooted in the 1st machine and the connection
reappeared. Go figure!

[Bug 242876] Re: lost wireless after upgrading to 2.6.24-19

2008-12-05 Thread Einar Petersen
Actually just had the same problem upgrading the kernel yesterday (not
the first time this has happened either) - Wrote a little howto and put
it on my site:

HOWTO fix wireless card using restricted drivers in Linux (Ubuntu)
http://einarpetersen.com/doku.php?id=howto_-_reenable_wireless

But back to the questions posed

Running Gutsy

uname -a
Linux laptop 2.6.22-16-generic #1 SMP Mon Nov 24 18:28:27 GMT 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

Is the latest kernel upgrade

dmesg - just comes up with a load of suppressed messages, however
following my howto I got it working again, hope others can do the same.

install_bcm43xx_firmware.sh is present in my usr/share directory
/bcm43xx-fwcutter directory and bcm43xx_microcode11.fw is present in
/lib/firmware

Let me know if you need any other input.

[Bug 242876] Re: lost wireless after upgrading to 2.6.24-19

2008-11-30 Thread Jeff
If you haven't already upgraded to Intrepid Ibex, can you please tell us
whether you have b43-fwcutter installed?
Also, can you attach a copy of your dmesg output to this bug report? It would
help to see if the kernel is correctly loading the b43 firmware.

2008-06-27 Thread Einar Petersen
Did you try the other treads - A whole bunch on wireless problems in
connection with upgrades. For me plugging into the wire, ticking off the
use restricted drivers in the Restricted Drivers Management Gui found
under Administration did the trick - Asked to download the driver
suggested.

[Bug 242876] Re: lost wireless after upgrading to 2.6.24-19

2008-06-26 Thread Einar Petersen
Got the same problem - I am however not anywhere near a wired connection
so I will wait till I get home to put a (v) check in the restricted
drivers management gui, I can luckily see the BCM43xx driver in my
management utility - or I'll search my disk for the already installed
driver...
