[Bug 245973] Re: linux-image-2.6.24-19-xen crashes with aic79xx

2008-08-19 Thread Thiago Camargo Martins Cordeiro
When I want to install ANY package with dpkg/apt-get/aptitude, my system
(dom0 under XEN) crashes with a "Kernel Panic" message!

I have 3 new "IBM System x3550" with controller disc "Adapted RAID BIOS
V5.2-0 [Build 11844]" and with Intel Xeon 64bits CPU (aka Intel-VT).

My IBM System x3550 hardware(s):
Machine type: 7978
Model number: C1U
Procuct ID: 7978C1U
Serials of my 3 servers: 820CPV8, 820CPX1 and 820CPW6

Some BIOS messages:
controller WWN 5005076B01526490

Array#0 - RAID-1 136.61 GB Okay
1 Array(s) Found

When dpkg is almost finished, system freeze and here is a message dumped
on my console:

NOTE: Sorry, I can't use netconsole because that module doesn't work
under Ubuntu XEN (netconsole: eth0 doesn't support polling, aborting.),
Maybe miss I something? Wrong ethernet? Should I try peth0 instead eth0
under XEN to use netconsole?

[Bug 245973] Re: linux-image-2.6.24-19-xen crashes with aic79xx

2008-08-18 Thread Burner
With same kernel and with:
Adaptec AIC7xxx driver version: 7.0
Adaptec 29160 Ultra160 SCSI adapter
aic7892: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs

I did not see that error but xen loads wery slowly and hangup to pci
device detection about one minute. After that it continue and finally
drop to busybox because it cannot find root partition from scsi raid
device. With normal kerner everything works well.

Info from normal kernel:
Linux xen1 2.6.24-19-server #1 SMP Sat Jul 12 00:40:01 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
model name : Intel(R) XEON(TM) MP CPU 1.90GHz
cpu MHz : 1889.617
cache size : 1024 KB
2 real cpu with HT.
