[Bug 246403] Re: Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 213532 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213532 You can change the default video output in VLC in the preferences. For mplayer there is a commandline option and maybe a setting but I don't know. For Totem you can use the app gstreamer-properties. But the easiest option for you might be enabling textured video so even XV works with Compiz but there might be penalties like tearing effects or high cpu usage. You can enable it through adding the line >>Option "TexturedVideo" "true"<< without ">><<" to the Device section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I guess this is the quintessence for your bug report which makes it a duplicate of Bug 213532. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 213532 Need textured-video - No video when using window transparency. -- Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, there seems to be negligible cpu usage difference. I guess that will probably vary with the resolution and codec of the video though. -- Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246403] Re: Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open
Is there a way to make it not use Xv in the first place? -- Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246403] Re: Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open
The second video is not using Xv and thus renders perfectly but uses more CPU. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: compiz => xserver-xorg-video-intel -- Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246403] Re: Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open
Edit: Sorry that should read: "Every time, the first video does *not* render effects correctly whereas the second does." Or, to clarify further: "The first video consistently fails to render the effects correctly, whereas the second one always renders them flawlessly." :p -- Compiz effects work on video only after another video already open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246403 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
