[Bug 251644] Re: 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem
Ok, I think I've found the problem. First of all if you install the driver from EnvyNG you will have to remove it from EnvyNG. Restricted Drivers Manager is not aware of what EnvyNG does, therefore it messed up things a bit. Please run EnvyNG again and uninstall the driver from there. Then close EnvyNG and type: sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-new Set the driver to "nvidia" instead of "nv" in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf Type: sudo rmmod nvidia and reboot. -- 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251644 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 251644] Re: 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem
Ok, here are the files. The temp xorg file fixed the screen size. I then tried to enable the restricted drivers, restart, then it came back up in LOW RES 640X480. Disabled, then obviously came back to correct screen size, cant use graphics capabilities obviously. Here are the requested files. Also like I said earlier, the 19 kernal worked fine and even had the nVidia Splash screen at boot up. Not after upgrade to 20. Ugh... lol Here are the requested files... Thanks for the help. [Bug 251644] Re: 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem
Ok, it looks like you're using the open source driver with a modeline which says that the resolution should be 640x480. Also, I don't know what happened when you used restricted drivers manager. In the meantime you might want to try this xorg.conf which I corrected for you. It still uses the open source driver but should work better (see the attachment). Simply replace your xorg.conf with the attached one, then restart the Xserver or your computer. Then I need you to attach the following files: 1) /var/log/envy-installer.log 2) type: sudo aptitude search nvidia > nvidia.txt and attach the nvidia.txt 3) type: sudo aptitude search linux > linux.txt and attach the linux.txt ** Attachment added: "xorg.conf" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16300279/xorg.conf -- 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251644 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 251644] Re: 2.6.24-20-generic upgrade Nvidia Problem
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description did not include enough information. Please attach your X server configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the "Attachment:" box below. Please make sure that you attach the log file when booting with the new kernel (broken configuration). Could you please also run the following command: "dpkg -l linux-* > linux.log" ...then attach the resulting file "linux.log" to this bug report.
