I am now running 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalope" (alpha) which does not have any "Manual configuration..." item. It is NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0. I had a similar problem when using the nm-connection-editor. It seems to me that it does not save a manual system configuration because the directory where the configuration should be stored is missing. It looks like Brian forgot to classify this bug as a bug in nm-applet. However, bugs are classified as belonging to source packages, not binary packages.
