2008-11-19 Thread Debian God!!
Hi,
Am sorry I can't be of any more help with Intrepid. I gaveup on it sometime
back and now am back to hardy. It was consuming way too much of my time even
for the basic operations. Network manager for one is a nightmare. You can
mark this bug invalid if the other guys do not respond to it.

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-11-19 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Hi Everyone,

@Eric, I noticed you mention you have a different wireless card and
therefore using a differen driver than the original bug reporter. Even
though you may be experiencing the same issue reported here it likely is
hardware specific and you should open a separate bug report. However,
before doing so you may also want try installing the linux-backports-
modules-intrepid package to see if it helps as it has an updated compat-
wireless stack.

@Jon and @renfrew, I'm unsure of the specific hardware that you have,
but it seems you at least have the same model. It would be good if one
of you opened a new bug report as well and the other then subscribes to
it.

@Debian God, since you are the original bug reporter, can you confirm if
this is still an issue with the final release of Intrepid? If the issue
remains, Per the kernel team's bug policy, can you please attach the
following information. Please be sure to attach each file as a separate
attachment.

* cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
* dmesg > dmesg.log
* sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

For more information regarding the kernel team bug policy, please refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies .

For those of you opening new bug reports (ie Eric, Jon, and renfrew),
the above information would be appreciated in your new reports as well.
Thanks.

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-11-12 Thread renfrew
I have exactly the same problems with eric above. I did not however
experience them with 8.04. The hardware is similar as well, Dell
Inspiron 6000. I have additionally noticed the problem often occurs when
I go off power or soon after opening the lid if it has been closed.

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-10-31 Thread Jon Sorg
The symptoms Eric describes are very similar to the issue I am having. I
upgraded to Ibex a little over a week ago from Hardy and started
experiencing problems. I did not have any problems in Hardy.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. At seemingly random intervals, my keyboard
will stop working. Simultaneously, the Applications/Places/System menus
stop working. When I click them, they light up orange, but the menu does
not appear. Also, I can no longer drag any windows I have open. I can
switch between focus between windows, but can't move them. In order to
fix the problem ctrl+alt+backspace still manages to restart x. This bug
is rendering my system virtually unusable, as it happens frequently.

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-10-20 Thread Eric
This could be a coincidence, but it does seem that I am seeing this
problem more (maybe even only) when I am running on battery power. I
have been running all day with no problem, until a few mins ago when I
unplugged my power adapter. The next action I made caused my keyboard
input to stop working.

Thanks

Eric

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-10-20 Thread Eric
Hello,
I upgraded to 8.10 from 8.04 2 days ago, and I am having the same issues
described here. In addition sometimes I am no longer able to click on the
menus bars to access applications. I can still move the menu bars around, but
clicking on Applications only depresses the button...the list of applications
never appear, then I will have issues when I am no longer able to type in any
application (although I can still hit ctrl+alt+bksp to kill X11). A logout or
a reboot usually fixes this problem temporarily. I have a Dell Inspiron 6400
running 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP with a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG
wireless card which I am always using. Please let me know if there is any more
info that I can provide that would be useful.

Thanks

Eric

2008-10-07 Thread Neil Munro
The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Beta release was most recently announced -
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/beta . It contains the 2.6.27
Ubuntu kernel. It would be great if you could test and verify if this
is still an issue. The status is being set to Incomplete until we
receive further feedback. Thanks.

[Bug 253740] Re: Keyboard freeze after some time

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.
