[Bug 255353] Re: firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in gfxXlibNativeRenderer::Draw()

2008-10-31 Thread bugmenot
Hello, after two months running 8.04 without any issues, this morning I
installed 8.10 through command line.

Firefow always crushed when opening any page containing SWF.
Currently I'm using Adobe flash player for Mozilla.

Also i have experienced other issue with KArchiver, it configures
itselfs about 5 times when starting up.

[Bug 255353] Re: firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in gfxXlibNativeRenderer::Draw()

2008-10-31 Thread Robert Bernecky
I installed FROM SCRATCH the Ubuntu 8.10 release yesterday. My /etc/adobe
directory
no longer exists, therefore, and I'm running Firefox 3.0.0.

The problem I reported above no longer occurs on my system.
So, I'm happy...

[Bug 255353] Re: firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in gfxXlibNativeRenderer::Draw()

2008-09-02 Thread Doru Horișco
I try to access my hotmail account and the Firefox freezes, became grey and
after a little wile it shuts down.
I use Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4 (updated) and I also use Compiz fusion with the
Normal options plus zoom (nothing fancy,
no cube or anything like that). And also the processor hangs up in a 100% state
and only come down after Firefox is shut down.

I had this problem in Gutsy when I activated the nvidia video driver card
before I activate the display monitor driver.
But in Gutsy I had the opportunity to install the display monitor driver from a
CD before I activate the video driver.
And the problem do not appear when I did that. This is not possible in Hardy or
Itrepid Ibex.

there is no /etc/adobe in my system. I'm using the flashplugin-nonfree

the config file might be hidden?

I'm running Intrepid as well. There IS no /etc/adobe directory on the system,
as you correctly noted.
I forgot to write that down. Sorry:

sudo mkdir /etc/adobe
sudo vi /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

I stuck this line into that file, then restarted Firefox:

WindowlessDisable=true

2008-08-29 Thread Robert Bernecky
I tried the recommended workaround, and things seem to be Much Better Now, in
the sense
that the crash no longer happens under Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha somenumberorother:

To repeat the workaround, I did this:

sudo vi /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

I stuck this line in the file, then restarted Firefox:

WindowlessDisable=true

Thanks!

can confirm this bug.
first the browser just hung up and then crashed after a while being not
responding.

what i noticed is, that almost in every case the last thing the page is trying
to load was something from an ads server.

As mentioned before (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/255353/comments/8)
this bug seems to be a Flash problem. Since many ads are Flash-based, this
makes sense.

I was using Hardy for two months and had my browser set to www.bbc.com
as my homepage. It never crashed at start up. I then upgraded to
Intrepid and the crash happen everytime firefox started with www.bbc.com
set as the homepage.

I do agree with you that it might be a flash related problem because
flash heavy sites crashes the browser very easily.

2008-08-14 Thread Stéphane Marguet
From this comment :
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/239182/comments/23

As a reminder, Firefox 3.0.1 has a known crash problem with a wide
variety of windowless mode SWFs. This has already been fixed in the
Mozilla code tree and alpha builds are available for download. However,
if you would prefer to wait until a new official Firefox release, you
may wish to disable windowless mode in the Flash Player. You can do this
(on any platform) by setting WindowlessDisable=true in the mms.cfg
(which lives in /etc/adobe on Unix platforms).

bbc.com doesn't crash for me with noscript.
The problem is http://www.bbc.co.uk/home/object/clock/tiny.swf
So it may be a flash related bug (I'm testing flash 10 RC)

I had to install Opera so as to browser the web.
