[Bug 26150] Re: [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected.
Hi rikard-nordgren, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 26150 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. I have this problem in a Dell Latitude X300 on Intrepid; the ac97_quirk=hp_only fixes it for me. ** Attachment added: "lspci-vn.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18142539/lspci-vn.txt ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/26150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 26150] Re: [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected.
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/26150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 26150] Re: [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected.
The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life. As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task. However, please note that this report will remain open against the actively developed kernel. Thank you for your continued support and help as we debug this issue. Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test your bug using the LiveCD. Please let us know your results. [Bug 26150] Re: [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected.
Hi, I just wanted to comment that the same problem, as accounted by the first post (Carthik Sharma on 2006-05-23) happens to me with Gutsy on a Dell Latitude D600. ac97_quirk=hp_only did not work for me. I'm attaching lspci -nv ** Attachment added: "gutsy_lspci-nv.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11435992/gutsy_lspci-nv.txt -- [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/26150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also have a D600 and whats also strange there is that when I change from ALSA to OSS mixer in the GNOME volume applet, I have a PCM-2 slider which controls the volume of only the headset, not the integrated speakers. -- [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected. https://launchpad.net/bugs/26150 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 26150] Re: [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected.
I'm using Kubuntu Edgy in my notebook (an Acer TravelMate 2313LCi) and had more permanent volume issues: the headphone slider always controlled the system volume, even with no headphones plugged in. So, when using the volume keys in the keyboard, everything worked as expected, except that the master volume didn't control anything. Using the suggested workaround fixed the issue and removed the headphone volume control. -- [Regression] Master volume does not work when headphones are connected. https://launchpad.net/bugs/26150 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
