Reverting to the previous version (x-x-i-s_0.15.0+git20080820-1ubuntu1) cures the problem - behavior back to normal. This bug is reproducible on my machine (HP Pavilion dv6000; 2.6.27-2-generic #1 SMP Thu Aug 28 17:18:43 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux).
