[Bug 263041] Re: Wine related applications are in Lost Found in K menu.

2008-11-20 Thread Toni Helenius
It would be great if somebody uploaded this to updates. I mean, it
doesn't broke anything and it's solved? Apparently the solution is
valid? Usability and finishing of Ibex would rise easily. Very buggy
release (not all Kubuntu's fault, but KDE's too) and even the smallest
fix would be huge improvement...

I too can confirm this, no Wine menu. All Wine apps show in Lost
Found, including itself :/

[Bug 263041] Re: Wine related applications are in Lost Found in K menu.

2008-11-12 Thread SRElysian
I found a way to fix it... it turns out that while kde-applications.menu
contains the mergedir option, kde4-applications does not, so, I fixed it
like so:

 sudo nano /etc/xdg/menus/kde4-applications.menu

or if you are not a console jockey:

 alt-f2
 kdesudo kate /etc/xdg/menus/kde4-applications.menu

All the way at the bottom of the file you should find the item,
DefaultMergeDirs/.

Directly below that add, MergeDirapplications-merged/MergeDir

so it should generally look like this:

   Include
And
CategoryKDE/Category
CategoryCore/Category
/And
/Include
DefaultMergeDirs/
MergeDirapplications-merged/MergeDir
MergeFileapplications-kmenuedit.menu/MergeFile

After saving you should pretty much immediately see the new Wine menu
and sub menu's. Good luck.

2008-11-12 Thread ANDREA
SRElysian 's solution works very well - Wine shows up along with the
whole menu. Congratulations!!! (by the way any idea how the rest of the
LostFound stuff can get sorted? I have Amarok in there, for
instance...)

2008-10-08 Thread Matt Neilson
I can confirm this. This is a usability bug: ideally, the behavior of
Wine and its installed programs should be the same between the GNOME and
KDE menus.
