Sebastian, do you get the same error as the reporter? I suspect you do not, in which case you should submit a crash report with apport. You might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Please then try reproducing the problem and submitting the generated crash report as a new bug. Not sure - but I think I have the same problem here. The database was created on a desktop under Ubuntu 8.04 (0.2.2-3) and copied to a laptop upgraded to 8.10 (0.3.1-1). Ubuntu 8.04 includes KeePassX 0.2.2-3, and hardy-backports has 0.3.1-1~hardy1. Which version did you create/use the database file with? (Ubuntu 8.10 includes 0.3.1-1). Please retest the database file with Ubuntu 8.04 to rule out the key being wrong or the file being damaged. You should be able to test this with a 8.04 LiveCD if you do not have 8.04 installed.
