[Bug 267176] Re: Tray Balloon

2008-11-16 Thread Yinon
Just had the same bug on Hardy.

Please note that the default apt-get behavior is to install recommended
packages.
However xchat should be installed properly even when user has changed this
default.
So it's advised to add the dependency of xchat on libnotify-bin explicitly.

Thanks !

This also affects me. 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.

Installing libnotify-bin solves the problem. xchat should automatically
include libnotify-bin when it is installed to resolve this problem.

Hi,

This is now fixed in Intrepid, as the package will be installed
automatically.

Thanks,

James

And to correct myself: the right package is NOT listed in the
dependencies, but in the recommendations. That's why it's not installed
automatically.

[Bug 267176] Re: Tray Balloon

2008-10-15 Thread Robert Spanjaard
I just encountered the same bug. Note that it's libnotify1 which is already
installed. There's no package named libnotify at all. I can confirm that XChat
asks for libnotify instead of libnotify-bin. The right package (libnotify-bin)
is listed in the dependencies, but most users (especially who use Add/Remove
Programs instead of Synaptic) won't be able to find this information.
It's probably best to install libnotify-bin when XChat is instaled through
Add/Remove Programs, and if not, correct/improve the error message so the user
has a way to fix this problem.
