[Bug 269139] Re: intrepid on HP pavilion: cannot detect screen

2008-09-22 Thread gpk
As of a few minutes ago, I did
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude full-upgrade
on what was an alpha-5 intrepid installation.

It is unable to detect anything. I can't even get 640x480 now.

X is clearly starting -- it gives a graphical menu saying it cannot detect any
devices
(how ironic), then goes into a loop of asking if I want to reconfigure or
troubleshoot.
None of the reconfiguration options makes any difference.

I eventually took the troubleshoot -- dump to archive option and I will attach
the resulting tar file.

[Bug 269139] Re: intrepid on HP pavilion: cannot detect screen

Here's the X-server log /var/log/Xorg.0.log (the previous file was
/var/log/syslog )

Note that this uses the 2.6.27-2 kernel, with noacpi boot flag. It hangs 13
times
during boot, and I convince it to go on by hitting esc or enter.

This was a fresh install from yesterday's alpha-5 CDROM, then I
added intrepid to apt/sources.list and updated today.
