I can confirm that Texmacs cannot open a file from the MIME information and
deletes its content.
Reproduced on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (with all updates).
To open a file, one is obliged to open first Texmacs and then go to
File - Load
I can also confirm that the workaround works (thanks, David!) Now I can
right click the file, and chose GNU Texmacs to open it.
