[Bug 272506] Re: Special Proc Files are displyed as empity

2008-09-26 Thread Chris Coulson
That's irrelevant though. Nautilus and Gedit are two unrelated pieces of
software. Nautilus is for browsing your filesystem and Gedit is for
viewing and editing text files. The fact that Gedit can't read this text
file isn't a Nautilus problem. The fact that Gedit advertises that it
can view text/plain files is also a Gedit problem, and not a Nautilus
one. Nautilus has no way of knowing that Gedit cannot read the file,
when it advertises that it can.

I hope that makes sense

Thanks

[Bug 272506] Re: Special Proc Files are displyed as empity

2008-09-20 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. However, what you describe is not a bug, as the files exported
to /proc and /sys by the kernel are not real text files, and therefore
are not viewable in a text editor.

Thanks

Sorry, I notice from your other bug report that this is a real bug in
Gedit, which makes my last response incorrect. However, this isn't a bug
in Nautilus, which is why I have closed this report as invalid.

Mr Coulson,
you say that is not a Nautilus Bug, but a gedit.
However, when I clicked on the /proc/bus/usb/devices file, I was using
Nautilus and not gedit. It was Nautilus to invoke gedit. If Nautilus
cannot read a gedit file, why to invoke it?.
