Hi found this old bugreport https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/61340 I also got this problem, my disk migth have been full I dont remeber Im close to the edge now and then the file mentioned below was empty and deleting it also fixed my problem (Duplicate?) Pete Ryland wrote on 2006-10-19: BTW, to recreate the menus, simply remove the personalised menu file like so: $ rm -f ~/.config/menus/applications.menu And rerun alacarte: $ alacarte It will hopefully recreate your menus from the system-wide defaults.
