I am having the same issue. Kdesudo did pop up, but I am still getting the described behavior. Actually, once you try to access the samba module kdesudo should come up asking you for your password to launch the module as root. The behavior you describe sounds like it was launching the module as user however. Please provide more information about your system. Clean 8.10 install or upgraded?
