[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
I was running into a similar issue, but was able to resolve it with a less drastic approach. I ran strace on transmission-daemon and it showed a stat of a torrent .part file just before the SIGSEGV. I move the associated .resume file out of tranmission/resume and transmission- daemon started right up. I then requested a verify of that same torrent, just to make sure everything was good. The interesting part is that the final couple of stats in the strace returned ENOENT (No such file or directory). Hope this helps the next person. BTW, this was on a Ubuntu Server 10.04 box with transmission 1.93. Yes, I am slow to upgrade but I still have a few months left! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 Title: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/279890/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
Same as Hanta, but I was able to get around it by only deleting ~/.config/transmission/resume. This was just after an upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 Title: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
Today I had the same behaviour with the version included in ubuntu 10.10 (transmission 2.04). I don't know the reason of the error, I only delete some finished download files and folders, but I have done it before without errors. Finally the solution was remove the settings folder from my home: ~/.config/transmission I paste here the error, I hope it helps to solve the error in the future: *** glibc detected *** transmission: double free or corruption (out): 0x02820650 *** === Backtrace: = /lib/libc.so.6(+0x774b6)[0x7ff9832234b6] /lib/libc.so.6(cfree+0x73)[0x7ff983229c83] transmission(tr_ptrArrayForeach+0x31)[0x446ef1] transmission(tr_ptrArrayDestruct+0xe)[0x4471de] transmission(tr_bencFree+0x4e)[0x44119e] transmission(tr_torrentLoadResume+0x1b9)[0x471939] transmission(tr_torrentNew+0x1d9)[0x4541d9] transmission(tr_sessionLoadTorrents+0x17b)[0x44e4cb] transmission(tr_core_load+0x82)[0x435fd2] transmission(main+0x73d)[0x42d40d] /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xfe)[0x7ff9831cad8e] transmission[0x41ca59] === Memory map: 0040-004a7000 r-xp 08:04 1701774 /usr/bin/transmission 006a6000-006a7000 r--p 000a6000 08:04 1701774 /usr/bin/transmission 006a7000-006aa000 rw-p 000a7000 08:04 1701774 /usr/bin/transmission 024f-0282d000 rw-p 00:00 0 [heap] 7ff970e4a000-7ff970e5f000 r-xp 08:04 1177423 /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 7ff970e5f000-7ff97105e000 ---p 00015000 08:04 1177423 /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 7ff97105e000-7ff97105f000 r--p 00014000 08:04 1177423 /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 7ff97105f000-7ff97106 rw-p 00015000 08:04 1177423 /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 7ff97107b000-7ff971233000 r--p 08:11 1572935 /home/hanta/.config/transmission/blocklists/level1.bin 7ff971233000-7ff971282000 r--p 08:04 2486006 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf 7ff971282000-7ff9712d r--p 08:04 2486047 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ubuntu-font-family/Ubuntu-R.ttf 7ff9712d-7ff9712d2000 r-xp 08:04 1708114 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so 7ff9712d2000-7ff9714d1000 ---p 2000 08:04 1708114 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so 7ff9714d1000-7ff9714d2000 r--p 1000 08:04 1708114 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so 7ff9714d2000-7ff9714d3000 rw-p 2000 08:04 1708114 /usr/lib/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so 7ff9714d3000-7ff9714dc000 r--s 08:04 784957 /var/cache/fontconfig/945677eb7aeaf62f1d50efc3fb3ec7d8-le64.cache-3 7ff9714dc000-7ff9714df000 r--s 08:04 784967 /var/cache/fontconfig/e383d7ea5fbe662a33d9b44caf393297-le64.cache-3 7ff9714df000-7ff9714e2000 r--s 08:04 784946 /var/cache/fontconfig/2cd17615ca594fa2959ae173292e504c-le64.cache-3 7ff9714e2000-7ff971518000 r-xp 08:04 1703586 /usr/lib/libcroco-0.6.so.3.0.1 7ff971518000-7ff971717000 ---p 00036000 08:04 1703586 /usr/lib/libcroco-0.6.so.3.0.1 7ff971717000-7ff971718000 r--p 00035000 08:04 1703586 /usr/lib/libcroco-0.6.so.3.0.1 7ff971718000-7ff97171b000 rw-p 00036000 08:04 1703586 /usr/lib/libcroco-0.6.so.3.0.1 7ff97171b000-7ff97174e000 r-xp 08:04 1704218 /usr/lib/librsvg-2.so.2.32.0 7ff97174e000-7ff97194e000 ---p 00033000 08:04 1704218 /usr/lib/librsvg-2.so.2.32.0 7ff97194e000-7ff97194f000 r--p 00033000 08:04 1704218 /usr/lib/librsvg-2.so.2.32.0 7ff97194f000-7ff97195 rw-p 00034000 08:04 1704218 /usr/lib/librsvg-2.so.2.32.0 7ff97195-7ff971952000 r-xp 08:04 1707036 /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so 7ff971952000-7ff971b51000 ---p 2000 08:04 1707036 /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so 7ff971b51000-7ff971b52000 r--p 1000 08:04 1707036 /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so 7ff971b52000-7ff971b53000 rw-p 2000 08:04 1707036 /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-svg.so 7ff971b53000-7ff971b55000 r-xp 08:04 1177884 /lib/libutil-2.12.1.so 7ff971b55000-7ff971d54000 ---p 2000 08:04 1177884 /lib/libutil-2.12.1.so 7ff971d54000-7ff971d55000 r--p 1000 08:04 1177884 /lib/libutil-2.12.1.so 7ff971d55000-7ff971d56000 rw-p 2000 08:04 1177884 /lib/libutil-2.12.1.so 7ff971d56000-7ff97400 r--p 08:04 2238046 /usr/share/icons/gnome/icon-theme.cache

[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
Greetings, I also get this error from time to time (Intrepid x64). It occurs when several torrent are loaded in Transmission (~ five torrents). I was thinking that it only happened when downloaded but today I just got it when uploading (all torrents finished). See the enclosed file for the full error, extracted from xsession- errors. I will try to run Transmission through Valgrind for more info. Another bit of info: I think this may happen when Transmission is started with torrents it wants to save to a dir that doesn't exist. I save mine to an external drive that was unplugged at the time of the crashes. Previously, Transmission would just pause all existing torrents and added torrents would just be saved to my home directory. -- Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also had this crash, but it didn't crash when I ran it with Valgrind. I've attached the output from that, It seems to crash only when I'm starting it by opening several torrents from Firefox. Or in other words, it happens very quickly and reliably (30s of use) except now that I'm trying to get some debugging output for y'all. Okay. I'm going to mark this ticket as `incomplete' for now, but please do check back in if it happens again. Thanks for the bug report. ** Changed in: transmission (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
John: I'm not seeing this error. If it's happening to you regularly, is there any way you could run a debug version of Transmission in valgrind? -- Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list
I'm no longer able to reproduce it -- after completing all active torrents with another client, further downloads have not exhibited the issue. If it crops up again, I'll try to get a valgrind log. -- Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
