[Bug 282240] Re: Sound volume control goes crazy

2010-03-25 Thread Brad Figg
Hi Facundo,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 282240

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil
icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 282240] Re: Sound volume control goes crazy

2009-02-20 Thread Sergio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in ALSA-DRIVER.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the
Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are
having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 282240] Re: Sound volume control goes crazy

2008-11-21 Thread Facundo Batista
The situation got better creating a ~/.asoundrc with the following info:

pcm.card0 {
type hw
card 0
}
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm hw:1,0
}
pcm.dmixer {
type dmix
ipc_key 1025
slave {
pcm hw:1,0
period_time 0
period_size 2048
buffer_size 32768
rate 48000
}
bindings {
0 0
1 1
}
}

Now I have volume control using the keyboard's configured keys. The rest
keeps broken.

[Bug 282240] Re: Sound volume control goes crazy

2008-11-20 Thread Casey Watson
+1 here.

I am using the sound device PnP Audio Device USB Audio (OSS). I hear
sound but the mixer controls have no effect and the master volume
control does jump around when dragging the slider.

In Sound Preferences if I try to test using the PnP Audio Device USB
Audio (ALSA) device, I get the following error.

 audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
 gconfaudiosink:
 Could not open audio device for playback.

[Bug 282240] Re: Sound volume control goes crazy

2008-11-04 Thread TankC
I can confirm this exact same behaviour with my gnome sound applet. The
problem also exists when attempting to change the volume with hardware
volume buttons (extra multimedia sound +/- buttons on the keyboard).

I'm currently experiencing the problem with Ubuntu 8.10 (final) but the
problem has persisted since at least 8.04 and possibly 7.10.

I can provide any extra information on request.
