This bug has been fixed in KDE 4.2 beta1. KDE 4.2 Beta1 has been released in the kubuntu-experimental ppa for Intrepid, as well as through normal means in Kubuntu Jaunty. The problem seems to be that the terminology used to describe both modes could be used to describe either mode... It seems that a fix has been made for KDE 4.2. It would be quite easy to port this back to our 4.1 packages for Intrepid, though.
