[Bug 282730] Re: locking screen resets mouse settings - evdev returned to default when computer un-idles
Additional notes: It just happened again. compiz was enabled. (red herring?) gconf-editor showed that /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/left_handed is true (as does gnome-mouse-properties). This resets leftiness: $ gconftool --set /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/left_handed --type boolean false $ gconftool --set /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/left_handed --type boolean true -Reece -- locking screen resets mouse settings - evdev returned to default when computer un-idles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 282730] Re: locking screen resets mouse settings - evdev returned to default when computer un-idles
I get the same behavior sporadically on a HP NW8440 with suspend/resume. I suspect, but have not verified, an association with using None, Normal, or Extra Visual Effects (i.e., metacity or compiz). Since toggling Visual Effects also causes other config changes such as window Always on Top, I wonder if the mouse handedness bug is representative of a more general config reset. lspci --vvnn attached. -Reece ** Attachment added: "HP NW8440 lspci -vvnn output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19597693/lspci-vvnn.txt -- locking screen resets mouse settings - evdev returned to default when computer un-idles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 282730] Re: locking screen resets mouse settings
Bryce: It appears that when the computer sits idle, it is unloading unused modules (evdev) and then when I use the mouse it reloads it with the "default" settings again. [Bug 282730] Re: locking screen resets mouse settings
Hi joseph-ruskiewicz, Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- locking screen resets mouse settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
