Re: [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
Sorry, I did not see you messages until now. I gave up on the U727 and Sprint a while ago. This bug report was marked as Incomplete and has not had any updated comments for quite some time. As a result this bug is being closed. [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
This is very similar to a bug I posted (which may be a dupe), bug# 448292. All my tech details are there, but basically: U727 works in Jaunty (after about 5 minutes after boot). It's seen in Karmic, but never gives an option to connect. -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
Hi Joachim, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 284049 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
I had it work one day under Jaunty and the other day it was detected as USB storage. Not sure what I did (maybe updates) but not it always is detected as USB storage and no Internet :( -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
Similar issue here. U727 recognized under Hardy, not recognized properly under Intrepid. It seems that the USB storage side works well enough, but I get the same sorts of errors and behaviors as two comments up. However, this card used to be supported with the airprime driver. Since the airprime module is now gone, and most of its remnants scattered amongst other drivers, it seems that the U727 should be supported under option.ko. However, option.ko does not recognize this card, so no ttyUSBx ports are created. This should be a relatively simple fix - add the vendor and product IDs to option.c in the kernel. This may need to be reported upstream. -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
SARO, Yes, this is a great observation! It seems that you have discovered that all one has to do is to eject the U727 USB drive and the broadband connection will work. This seems to be supported by the error log that I submitted. The problem there is not with the broadband modem, but rather the USB drive that comes with the modem. I wonder if the problem will go away after reformatting the USB drive with a more native filesystem... Thank you very much for sharing your workaround! [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
After a reboot, I got the same "No additional sense information" error in the log once I plugged in the card. But this time nautilus opened up and I could see the internal drive mounted. When I clicked eject, the error messages stopped and it recognized it as a broadband modem and I was able to connect through network manager applet just by clicking on it. Dont know if I will have the same luck next time. [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
Well, same here. It seems I got lucky only once. When I booted with the new kernel this morning, everything was working. The card was a-ok the whole day. A few hours ago I shut down my laptop at work and rebooted at home and now the card gives exactly the same problem again. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => New -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
I am still get the same error for Novatel U727 in the latest 2.6.27-7.13 kernel. Also the card is not recognized and the airprime driver is not present in the modules directory. One weird thing that I noticed is that the restricted modules package is still 2.6.27-7.12 ! -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
When booting with kernel 2.6.27-4, the error messages listed above are not generated. [Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem
Forgot to mention: When running with 2.6.27-7 I can only get CDMA connections very intermittently. 90% of the time the NetworkManager does not seem to recognize the card and does not seem to start a connection. -- Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
