Hello, Confirming this on laptop Acer Aspire One 115 running on fresh Jaunty install. Volume/brightness control shortcut keys on keyboard (FN+arrow keys) use to work with very slow autorepeat. On Intrepid this was working correctly. I am attaching the requested HAL debug files. Ops forgot: What I did was to just press FN+right arrow to increase brightness, during the recording of the debug info. This is what you should look for. Hi, I am seeing similar behavior as well to that described in other comments for this bug report. I am currently running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid as a dualboot on my Panasonic Let's note CF-W4. In my case I get no response whatsoever from my associated hotkeys, however that I can deal with. More problematic, and more germane to this particular bug report, when I add the brightness control widget to the top menu, and try to toggle/slide the control to alter the brightness, the response is terribly slow; on the order of one minute to slide the brightness from 100% to 0%, making it pretty much unusable. I have attached a tarball including the kern.log, hal.log and lshal.txt files as recommended in the filing instructions page. T61 (6465CTO, Intel X3100/GM965) I have the same thing here. some observations and possible fixes/workarounds: slow response/pausing behavior: - brightness controls are responsive right after a reboot - I can hit brightness up 100 times with no effect. - trigger: If I use the acpi/end key to bring the brightness all they way down to it's lowest level, I then only have 2 or 3 more brightness events which are responsive.
