[Bug 290484] Re: nm-applet has no icon if no wireless network present
I had a problem where the network manager applet was not present. It turned out to be related to https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/162710 where nm-applet was screwed up due to changing my login password. Perhaps that will help others. -- nm-applet has no icon if no wireless network present https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have to add a me to here. my interfaces file is -- auto lo br0 iface lo inet loopback iface br0 inet dhcp bridge_ports eth0 wired iface wired inet manual iface br_usb inet manual bridge_ports eth_usb iface eth_usb inet manual - no mention of the wireless interface here but I still see no network manager icon in the notification area. -- nm-applet has no icon if no wireless network present https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 290484] Re: nm-applet has no icon if no wireless network present
I also have this problem. My static IP wired connection is configured via /etc/network/interfaces, and wireless connection is managed by NM. nm-applet is running, no icon is visible, but the dropdown menu can be accessed by luckily clicking the notification area.

Same here on a HP Compaq 6510b! I can't see the symbol and I can't find any menu by clicking in the notification area. When I kill the nm-applet and restart it, the only thing happens is: -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# killall nm-applet [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# nm-applet ** (nm-applet:26491): WARNING **: No connections defined -- Since I am now going to upgrade on my desktop system, I'll see if the same bug is also present there. -- nm-applet has no icon if no wireless network present https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
