Hi, I just opened a bug report for an other issue with multimedia keyboard in hard. There I discovered that some patch (01_volume_hotkeys.patch) is applied to the sources of the xfce4-mixer from Gusty on to Intrepid to enabled mm keys by default. Since in this patch the key codes are hard coded they might not be grabbed if something in X changes (input driver to evdev).
